There may still be a million things Lin-Manuel Miranda hasn’t done, but he’s about to cross one more off the list: The Hamilton creator and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, several Tony awards and a truckload of other laurels will collaborate on music for a live action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Miranda will team up with Alan Menken, who wrote the beloved original music for the 1989 animated film (as well as other Disney classics like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast), Deadline reports. The new movie will include some of the songs from Menken’s Oscar-winning score, and Miranda will additionally supervise the story, based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale.
In addition to The Little Mermaid, Miranda has another live action Disney project coming up: He’ll be starring in a new Mary Poppins sequel opposite Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep.
