In news that surprises absolutely no one, Mariah Carey continues to live a fabulous existence — most recently demonstrated by a video that shows she resourcefully brought her own throne when one was not provided.
The elusive chanteuse appeared at Television Critics Association on Wednesday with not only her own velvet and gold throne in tow, but six shirtless men, chocolate, and chilled Veuve Clicquot, the latter of which she graciously shared with the crowd. The quintessential diva, clad in fishnet tights, a bedazzled leotard, and stiletto ankle booties told the audience, “I wanted to share a splash with you!” before delving into a discussion of her upcoming eight-part reality docuseries, Mariah’s World on E!.
The singer was initially dubious about revealing her private life on-camera.
“I’m never really sure who to trust,” she said. “I didn’t know exactly how things would be perceived. My goal is to make it something that can be a lasting piece of work for my fans and my kids.”
Carey did, however, clear up any ideas that this would be a reality TV show as only she could.
“We call it a docu-series because it feels like more of a documentary,” she said. “I don’t watch reality…I don’t even know what reality is.”
Other gems (besides her champagne and throne entrance) from the TCA appearance? Mimi unabashedly called her time on American Idol, “the most abusive experience,” but confided that she indulges in a good Scandal binge just like the rest of us.
“I love Scandal,” she told Vulture. “I watch it over and over on Netflix.”
Mariah’s World will debut on December 4th; watch the latest trailer for the series below;
