People all over the world have expressed concern for the Syrian refugees arriving in Greece, but Susan Sarandon has taken her empathy one step further: she has actually gone to Greece to welcome the migrants ashore.
“Who are these refugees? Where are they from? What led them here? Where will they go? I have come to hear their stories and learn,” Sarandon wrote on the Huffington Post.
Sarandon recounts crying with a migrant mother who brought her two children with her. “I take her in my arms and I, too, begin to weep… I can’t imagine what state of desperation could make getting on this overcrowded, rickety boat seem like a good idea,” Sarandon said.
