Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban begins with Harry secretly doing his homework in the middle of the night, hiding under the covers in his bed while studying the history of witch-burning, and hoping that his Muggle aunt and uncle don’t catch him.
Appropriately, then, this stop-motion short by Unpopular Now begins with a child reading in bed — reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, in fact. But when he puts the book down and goes to sleep, Hogwarts itself, built from the pages of Prisoner of Azkaban, materializes beside him — like magic!
The enchanting short film, which took more than a month to make, reminds us that before Harry Potter was a theme park or multi-billion-dollar movie franchise, Hogwarts and the rest of the magical world existed just like this: on paper, and in our imaginations. Watch it above.
