Comcast has announced that it will launch a streaming television service for subscribers of its cable service, Xfinity, in the coming months.
It’s called Stream, aptly enough, and for $15 a month it will provide access on tablets, laptops and smartphones to live television from “about a dozen networks” and “thousands of on-demand movies and shows,” Matt Strauss, an executive vice president at Comcast, stated in a press release.
The company is launching a beta version of the service in Boston toward the end of the summer, followed by a soft rollout in Chicago and Seattle. They say it’ll be available everywhere by early next year. Xfinity subscribers will simply have to download an app to have access to Stream.
