A new musical based on British super spy James Bond is reportedly being developed for a hopeful Broadway run, according to a Playbill interview with producer Merry Saltzman, the daughter of Bond producer Harry Saltzman.
Saltzman says she’s grabbed the rights for a stage production of James Bond: The Musical, which is being prepared with a score by Jay Henry Weisz and book by Dave Clarke. In the interview, Saltzman acknowledged her ideal situation: an opening in the 2017-18 season, either on Broadway or in Las Vegas (arguably the Broadway of southern Nevada).
Additional details from the interview revealed that the show, if it comes to fruition, would not recycle a storyline from one of Bond’s past outings but would employ a combination of familiar and new Bond villains, as well as “our own Bond girl.”
Rumors of casting involving Daniel Craig and Adele are untrue and hilarious.
