Madonna seems to think she has finally met her match in Kanye West, who collaborated on her new album Rebel Heart, out Tuesday. “Kanye is the new Madonna,” she told the New York Daily News. “Kanye is the black Madonna.”
Surprisingly, Madonna was not comparing their ego or talent, but their shared ability to polarize and upset the masses. “We’re comrades in the envelope-pushing genre.”
The singer doesn’t seem to be prepared to stop pushing envelopes anytime soon, but she is hurt by recent criticism that her style is age-inappropriate—particularly an outfit worn to the Grammys that revealed her butt. “Mostly I hear it from women,” she said. “I feel I should be hearing support—like, ‘Good for you.'”
