When you think of the Seattle sound, visions of the flannel of the ’90s and grungy goatees float through your head. ODESZA is looking to change that stereotype with their lush electronic dance music. After a string of festival dates and an opening slot with Pretty Lights, the up-and-coming Seattle outfit is starting to make waves with futuristic melodious and ear worm beats.
The 13 tracks on their most recent album, In Return, are a collaborative effort between producers Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight and a revolving roster of talented vocalists like Py, Shy Girls, Madelyn Grant and, most noticeably, Zyra, whose work infuses the single “Say My Name” with undeniable charisma. Despite the many voices featured on the album, the sound is unified under a groove, built on ODESZA’s multi-layered melodies, spaced-out beats and cinematic charm.
Their tracks are primed for remixes, and today, TIME is premiering Star Slinger’s take on “Say My Name.” In the hands of the British DJ and producer, ODESZA’s track becomes even more dance-floor worthy, swapping somnolent grooves for Ibiza-ready beats.
In support of their new album, In Return, the band is heading out on a sold-out tour soon. For more information, head here.
