Comcast is rolling three top streaming TV services into one with a new bundle that will include Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ for a reduced price. The announcement comes mere days after Disney+ announced it will be bundling Max (formerly HBO Max) with its streaming service alongside the Hulu content already integrated into its library. In fact, several providers across the board have recently introduced bundles: late last year, Verizon started offering wireless customers on specific plans a $10 monthly bundle that includes the ad-supported tiers of Max and Netflix.

The trend toward bundling comes as no surprise. Subscriber numbers are dwindling as customers cut back on subscription costs, and streamers are consistently increasing prices. For those considering canceling one (or more) of their streaming services, this bundle could sweeten the deal enough to prevent them from making the change.

What’s included in the new Comcast bundle?

The bundle, StreamSaver, will be available to all Comcast customers with Internet, TV, and/or phone subscriptions via the Xfinity service. If you don’t subscribe to Xfinity, you’re out of luck. The goal of the bundle is to provide multiple services at a purportedly heavily discounted rate. By offering multiple services in one, the providers hope to reduce churn, the act of customers canceling one (or more) services to save money. Since Comcast will handle the subscription, it presumably allows for more straightforward sign-up and billing.

Here's a rundown of the three included services and their pricing. Without this deal, the cheapest combination of all three would be $22.97 per month. It’s unclear if the Comcast deal will include the ad-supported or ad-free versions of the services or if additional tiers will exist.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is the only streaming service that doesn’t offer tiered pricing plans: all content is available without ads and in HD or 4K quality. The standard price is $9.99 per month. However, at a discounted rate, Apple TV+ can also be bundled with an Apple One subscription that offers multiple Apple services, like iCloud storage, Apple Fitness+, Apple News, Apple Music, and more. With the base Apple TV+ plan, you can stream on up to six devices simultaneously. Apple TV+ also comes as a three-month trial with the purchase of a new Apple device, including iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Apple TV+ has offered a strong slate of originals since it launched in 2019, including some of the most exciting original shows of the last few years like Ted Lasso, Silo, Severance, For All Mankind, Black Bird, and, more recently, Masters of the Air and Dark Matter; as well as Oscar-winning films like CODA.

Netflix

The cheapest Netflix plan is $6.99 per month for Basic with ads, which offers content in HD but doesn’t include the full roster of movies and TV shows due to some licensing restrictions. There’s also no option to download content for offline viewing with the Basic tier. The step-up Standard plan is $15.49 per month and includes access to all content in HD and the ability to add a secondary subscriber who resides in a different home for an additional $7.99 per month. The highest tier plan is Premium, which is $22.99 per month and ups the picture and audio quality to Ultra HD 4K and spatial audio (as available), allowing you to add up to two additional members at the same rate mentioned above per person, and increases the number of devices to which you can watch and download. Netflix remains one of the most expansive and diverse streaming services when it comes to originals, licensed, and foreign content, with hot TV show titles like Squid Game, Baby Reindeer, and Bridgerton, and movies like The Irishman, Hustle, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Oscar-winning film The Power of the Dog.

Peacock

Peacock is included with both ad-supported and ad-free tiers. Currently, Peacock’s ad-supported tier is $5.99 per month, but that will go up to $7.99 per month starting July 18, 2024, for new subscribers and August 17, 2024 for existing subscribers. The Premium Plus tier, which eliminates most ads, is currently $11.99 per month but will rise to $13.99 per month simultaneously. These price hikes will happen ahead of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, which Peacock will stream alongside other live and on-demand sports that are already part of its regular roster. Owned by NBC, Peacock offers plenty of NBC content, including the Law & Order franchise series, Parks and Recreation, and The Office, and a strong slate of originals like Poker Face, Twisted Metal, The Traitors, and ted.

How much will the bundle cost?

Comcast has not yet released details about pricing for the StreamSaver bundle. Still, CEO Brian Roberts said during his announcement at the MoffetNathanson’s 2024 Media, Internet and Communications Conference in New York that the company will offer the trio of services for a “vastly reduced price” compared to “anything in the market today.” He added that it would “take some dollars out of” competitive streamers’ pockets and “add value to customers.” So, rest assured that while pricing hasn’t been announced, it will be cheaper than if you were to sign up for the three services separately. Roberts promises that it will be a “pretty compelling package.”

When will Comcast’s Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ bundle be available?

Brown has confirmed that the StreamSaver bundle will launch later this month, but there’s no specific date yet. It will, however, arrive before the summer and before Peacock’s pending price hike comes into effect, giving you enough time to do the math and make an educated decision before signing up.
