At the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the competition was fierce for outstanding performance by a male actor in a television movie or limited series — but Steven Yeun came out on top.

Greta Lee and Troy Kotsur presented the honor to the actor, 40, for his work on Beef. Upon stepping up to the stage, Yeun realized he grabbed an envelope that wasn't meant for him.

"Oh, this is Pedro's," Yeun said, referencing fellow winner Pedro Pascal. "I'm gonna keep this."

From there, Yeun began to give thanks to his Beef colleagues. "I have to think first, Sonny [Lee], Ali [Wong], Jake [Schreier], thank you for going on this ride for building this thing," he said.

"Thank you to Netflix, A24. Thank you to my lovely wife, Jo [Pak]. Thank you to my family. Thank you to my mom and my dad, who didn't say no hard enough to have me stop doing this," he continued. "I was reminded outside about the first job that I had that got me my SAG card, and it was being in a vat of fake caramel wriggling around in a speedo for a Milky Way commercial. And honestly, I felt just as hyped to get that card then as I am to receive this here now."

"I'm very honored to be here in this room with all you. I'm very honored to be nominated with these incredible artists," he continued. "I want to thank, finally, my incredible acting coach and dear friend Deb Aquila. Whenever we would work on something, I just be like, 'No, you don't get it.' It's like this specific Korean thing that I'm talking about. And God bless her. She was like, 'No, honey, that's what we all go through.' And that was so important to me. So thank you, Deb. I appreciate y'all. Thank you so much."

Yeun's fellow 2024 nominees also included Fellow Travelers' Matt Bomer, Fargo’s Jon Hamm, David Oyelowo from Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Tony Shalhoub of Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie.

In Beef, Yeun played Danny Cho, a man whose repressed anger was unleashed after he finds himself in a road rage scenario with Ali Wong's character Amy Lau. In the event's aftermath, Danny and Ali found their lives intertwined in unexpected ways.

The actor was previously nominated for a SAG Award in 2021 for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role for his playing Korean American family patriarch Jacob in Minari.

In Showtime’s limited series Fellow Travelers, Bomer — who also executive produced the show — played charismatic politico Hawk Fuller, who became entangled in a decades-long love affair with Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey).

The show's timeline spanned from the 1950s Joseph McCarthy communist trials to the 1980s AIDS crisis — a project Bailey previously told PEOPLE was a "no-brainer" for him to do: "I had looked for these gay stories, a sweeping gay love story, and I hadn't really seen them. This ticked every single box, and it's something I know I'll be proud of for the rest of my career."

Fargo's fifth season revolved around Juno Temple’s character Dot, a Minnesota wife and mother whose past caught up with her despite her best efforts to build a new life. Hamm played Roy Tillman, an overzealous priest and sheriff who was hellbent on finding Dot.

For his star turn as Don Draper in Mad Men, Hamm was previously nominated six times for a SAG Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves was a dream more than eight years in the making for Oyelowo, who also executive-produced the series alongside Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. In playing the first Black U.S. deputy marshal west of the Mississippi River, the actor told PEOPLE ahead of production that the show aimed for a “true historical representation."

“People don’t know that one in four cowboys back then were Black and that the Lone Ranger was basically a story that was ripped from Bass Reeves’s life,” he added.

For the Paramount+ series, Oyelowo trained in horse riding and firearms to play the man who arrested more than 3,000 criminals in the 1800s: “He had a long career with so many legendary stories. That’s what’s exciting.”

Oyelowo was previously nominated for a SAG Award in 2014 for his portrayal of Louis Gaines in the biopic The Butler.

In Peacock's Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, Shalhoub stepped back into the iconic role of Adrian Monk, the germophobic detective he played in the USA Network series Monk for eight seasons.

After being asked by his stepdaughter Molly (Caitlin McGee) to investigate the mysterious death of her fiancé, Monk uncovered a devious plot that reunited him with his former colleagues. Many of the show’s original cast members returned, including Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard and Melora Hardin, with newcomers Hector Elizondo and James Purefoy joining the mix.

Shalhoub has previously won four SAG Awards for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series for his performances in Monk and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
