Billie Eilish Signs Melissa McCarthy's Face (with a Sharpie!) as SAG Presenters Uncover Surprise Family Link

Melissa McCarthy was left starstruck — and autographed — on the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards stage thanks to Billie Eilish. 

The pair presented the award for outstanding female actor in a comedy series — which went to The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri — but before they got to the nominees, McCarthy, 53, had to fangirl over Eilish, 22.

After reminding the singer that they’ve met “thrice” before — and Eilish has even met her “daughters and one of my dogs” — McCarthy shared a surprising “fun fact.”

“Since you’re asking, I actually met you in utero because your mom was my first improv teacher. And guess who she was pregnant with? It was you!” The Little Mermaid star revealed.

“Wow, okay… that’s a lot,” Eilish replied.

McCarthy then continued her fangirling as she requested that the singer sign her metallic dress. “I’m just trying to be more present in making memories and I’m trying for more YOLO-ing and less FOMO-ing,” she said before asking Eilish, who said she didn’t want to “ruin” the look. 

“Will you sign my face?” McCarthy suggested instead.

Eilish then grabbed a black Sharpie out of the actress’ hand and began to write her name on McCarthy's forehead, along with a small heart. She also took the opportunity to cover McCarthy’s mouth with her hand after the star began to ask about her and her brother Finneas’ songwriting process. 

“So, when you and Finneas are putting down sick tracks or hot, hot beats….” McCarthy began to ask before Eilish covered her mouth. 

“I think that’s better,” Eilish said of McCarthy’s forced silence, before she laughed to herself at the hilarious scene unfolding. 

McCarthy has previously shared that Eilish's mother, Maggie Baird, was her improv teacher. On Watch What Happens Live in 2022, the actress raved that Baird was "an awesome teacher."

She praised Eilish and her brother Finneas, 26, as "crazy talented" and "creative" before admitting that it took a minute for her to process who the "Bad Guy" singer was in relation to her former improv teacher.

"I got reunited with them at the Ellen show and I saw her and I was like, 'Oh my God! Maggie! What are you doing here?' She was like, 'My daughter's on the show,' " McCarthy recalled. "And then all of a sudden, Billie Eilish gets on and I was like, 'Huh! It's funny. They have two musical shows because Maggie's daughter's also doing a thing.' "
