The Prince of Wales, 42, stepped out to celebrate the impact of Earthshot Prize finalists and global climate innovators at the event, highlighting changemakers of the environmental contest he created in 2020. For a decade, winners across the five categories — Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate — receive £1 million each to help scale their innovations.

The royal met with Michael R. Bloomberg, Founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies and Global Advisor to the Earthshot Prize Winners, and key partners before joining the audience and hearing the stories of three finalists who will share their progress and ambitions.

Prince William then joined a panel moderated by Hannah Waddingham. The Ted Lasso star, 49, is a strong supporter of the Earthshot Prize, and she hosted the third annual awards ceremony in Singapore last year.

In a speech at the event, William said: "For me, the magic behind the success we have enjoyed so far has been the powerful model for growth that we’ve built. We’re not only discovering, selecting, and awarding transformative solutions from around the world, we’re also shining a light on them, introducing them to networks of influence and resources and providing them with vital communities of support."

The Earthshot Prize finalists spotlighted included cofounder of S4S Technologies Nidhi Pant, CCO of WildAid Meaghan Brosnan, Lead of Freetown the Treetown Manja Kargbo, Director of Growth from Abalobi Chris Kastern and founder & CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves Charlot Magayi. Throughout the day, Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp participants heard from special guests including Stella McCartney and received video messages from Bill Gates and Dara Khosrowshahi.

The Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp brought together 50 innovators to connect with experts, investors and business leaders to scale and accelerate capital towards transformative climate solutions. Sessions included skill-building to challenge, stretch and build on their ideas.

Prince William's outing at London Climate Action Week comes after a busy period for the royal family.

On June 15, the heir to the throne rode on horseback at Trooping the Colour, the British Army's annual parade celebrating King Charlesofficial birthday. The event marked Kate Middleton's first public appearance with the royal family in nearly six months amid her ongoing cancer treatment, although it did not mean a full return to public life for the Princess of Wales.
