NBA bettor wins $1.5 million on Celtics in one of the largest wagers of the year

There may be no one happier in the world than this fan who just won huge on the Celtics’ Game 3 victory.

A Hard Rock Sportsbook gambler won big after throwing $1.5 million on Boston to upset the Dallas Mavericks on their home floor Wednesday night.

At +105 odds, the wager won $1.575 million for a total payout of $3.075 million thanks to the Celtics grabbing a 3-0 series edge with their 106-99 triumph.

It marks one of the biggest reported wins of the year, alongside Dave Portnoy’s 2024 hot streak.

The massive bet looked to be in trouble at several points before the Celtics prevailed.

In the first quarter, the Mavericks jumped out to a 25-12 lead behind a raucous crowd in Dallas.

Boston would quickly storm back, cutting the lead to one at the end of the quarter.

After later jumping out to a 21-point lead early in the fourth quarters, it appeared the Celtics may be on the verge of a collapse.

With six minutes left in the game, Dallas cut Boston’s lead down to three, but the game took yet another turn when Luka Doncic fouled out, leaving Kyrie Irving to try to finish off the comeback without his co-star.

The Celtics held on and are now just one win away from their 18th championship.

Boston came into the game as a 2.5- or three-point road underdog, depending on the sportsbook.

After opening at +1.5, their odds took a hit thanks to big man Kristaps Porzingis’ “rare” leg injury that took him out of action for Game 3.
