Is the Giants roster as doomed as some around the NFL predict?

The Giants might have a decent season in 2024.

This is not much of a prognostication, considering one team’s “decent” is another team’s “brutal” or a different team’s “successful.’’ For the Giants, it feels right that a decent season for them would be to nudge their record around .500 and be within hailing distance of a playoff berth around the winter holidays.

What seems certain is the Giants will have to defy any and all expectations if they are to win more than they lose. Is there any unbiased forecasting out there that envisions good things for the Giants? Praise and rampant optimism, even from their most diehard fans, is hard to find.

Surely it is not found with the folks at Pro Football Focus, the analytics outfit that recently ranked all 32 NFL rosters. Given PFF’s predilection for number-crunching, these rankings tend to be more about cold, hard analysis, as opposed to a hot-take vibe. If these rankings hold any merit, the Giants are in trouble.
