The most-searched sex positions by state revealed — No. 1 is twisted

Let’s get knotty?

The most-searched sex position in 14 states is the “pretzel,” according to a state-by-state analysis of Google Trends data performed by sex toy review site Bedbible.

To emulate bread in bed, a person lies on their side while their partner straddles their bottom leg and holds up their top leg to penetrate them.

“The pretzel position is a good position for deep penetration,” Ashley Cobb, a sexpert for British pleasure retailer Lovehoney, told Men’s Health in 2021. “It’s also a great position for short women who have taller lovers.”

They’re trying to get it twisted in Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah and West Virginia, per Bedbible.

The second-most-searched position is the “speed bump,” a term popularized this year by “Love Island.”

People in Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin are looking to take it slow.

“The person with a vagina is led face down instead of on their knees, with a pillow or a wedge underneath their hips to raise their pelvis. Hence, speed bump,” Annabelle Knight, a Lovehoney sex and relationship specialist, explained to Cosmopolitan UK in February.

“A favorite of certain current Love Islanders, the speed bump is popular because of the deep penetration made possible by the position and the elevation of the hips made possible by the pillow.”

The “eagle” is top of mind in Alabama, Maine and Rhode Island. Shutterstock

Fittingly, in third place is the “Eiffel Tower” — a three-person set-up that has one partner getting on all fours to form the tower “base.”

That person performs oral sex on the partner standing in front, while the third person penetrates them from behind. The outside partners high-five to complete the tower.

Connecticut, Delaware, Oregon and Wyoming find this to be a landmark position.

Meanwhile, people in New York, California and Virginia want to give “Cupid’s arrow” a shot.

Prevention describes it as a “twist on the classic reverse cowgirl.”

Get on top of your partner by facing his feet. Lower yourself to a 30-degree incline and rock back and forth.

The outlet notes that “the trick to this position is to be cat-like, leaning onto your hands toward the end of the bed instead of keeping your spine perpendicular to the bed.”

The “lotus” is piquing interest in Montana and New Hampshire. Shutterstock

Other popular sex positions thrust into Google search boxes include the “eagle,” “triceratops,” “butter churner,” “corkscrew,” “lotus” and “sniper.”

“This study gives an exciting insight into which states are searching the most for which positions, giving us a strong indication that America is extremely creative and exciting in the bedroom, with many states searching for completely different positions,” a Bedbible spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

“Being able to do research beforehand can make you feel a lot more comfortable about experimenting. It’s also important to remember that trial and error should be fun with a partner rather than a worry to get it right.”
