Video shows 82-year-old Florida man nearly run over during carjacking

An elderly Florida man was nearly run over after a group of thugs carjacked him in a convenience store parking lot, distressing video shows.

Footage of the brazen, broad daylight attack released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office shows a mob of five men strolling over to the 82-year-old victim as he pulls into a RaceTrac convenience store parking lot on November 5.

The group can be seen talking to the man through the window of his red Volkswagen Jetta, before the driver then gets out and walks behind his car.

The carjackers told the man that his taillight was out, prompting him to get out and check, police said.

But as he inspects the light, one of the men jumps into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was still running, the footage shows.

The brave octogenarian then hustles back to the driver’s side door and attempts to pull the man out.

The thief then hits the gas — with the door still wide open — sending the elderly victim hurtling to the asphalt as the other four assailants flee, the video shows.

The driver can be seen writhing round on the ground in pain, unable to get up.

The carjacker then pulls around to a corner of the parking lot where one of his accomplices jumps in the car — while the three others continue bolting on foot, according to the footage.

Investigators said the victim suffered minor injuries and that the suspects are still at large.

One of his attackers, the man told police, had a noticeable limp.

The stolen vehicle was later found in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Cops said they are still pursuing the suspects and have asked any witnesses to come forward.
