The World Series has been tight so far, tied at one game a piece. After a rainout Monday, the three games ahead in Philadelphia should get very interesting amongst a rowdy atmosphere. Meanwhile. New York’s baseball teams will be watching from home.
Did the Yankees make the wrong call by bringing back Aaron Boone as manager for 2023? That’s a big topic of discussion on this week’s episode of “The Show” podcast with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman. The Mets were knocked out early by the Padres in the wild-card round. Mets general manager Billy Eppler joined Joel and Jon to look ahead to their offseason and free agency plans.

- FREE AGENTS: Mets have some key players that are free agents, including Jacob deGrom. Can they bring him back?
- ROTATION: David Peterson took a step up this season. Joey Lucchesi is another option as a starter next season. Tylor Megill is an option. There’s going to have to be some adding to the group in free agency or the trade market.
- FRANCISCO ALVAREZ: Remains to be seen if he will be starting catcher in 2023. Saw improvement on the defensive side this season.
- OUTFIELD: Starling Marte can play centerfield if they needed to go that route to go after a corner outfielder.
- PRESIDENT/STEARNS: Has had a strong relationship with David. Focused on the job. I’m the lead voice of baseball operations this offseason.
