Who can deny a happy hour with Zac Efron and Russell Crowe?

‘Beer’ gets island happy hour

New comedy drama action movie “Greatest Beer Run Ever” stars Zac Efron, Russell Crowe, Bill Murray. Supposedly legit story from a book by writer Joanna Molloy, it’s about a Marine vet, 26, who left NYC to schlep beer to his childhood buddies in Vietnam.

Norman Lear just screened this for friends. Where’d he screen it? Martha’s Vineyard. Where in Martha’s Vineyard? At the big large home of ex Sec’y of State John Kerry and wife Teresa Heinz who is of the Heinz ketchup Heinzes and, thus, chair of Heinz Endowments and Heinz Philanthropies. Kindly please understand that even the personal bathroom mirror where Kerry fluffs his tended pompadour was not near a single migrant.

Big-time TV producer Lear, a WWII vet: “Glad I made it to 100 so I could see this movie.”

JOHN Stamos memoir “If You Would Have Told Me” unloads four decades from dorky kid to soap “General Hospital” to B’way to four decades of film and TV things to news he’s also a drummer/singer/musician. It’s next fall. Henry Holt, publisher.

Theater’s plaything

LINDA Lavin’s play in the great Roundabout Theatre has the ungreat title “You Will Get Sick.

“We open Nov. 6. Getting older memorizing’s harder. I have an assistant because there’s also a monologue. Schlepping back and forth from California I got COVID. [Remember the play’s title?] Now I’m tested daily. I sit outside, go to bed early, don’t go out much a lot, except I saw Billy Stritch at Birdland.

“Life is short. Disappointments. Pain. I’ve given up negative influences. I sit outside, care for myself. Takes work to get out of sadness. I’m off now for a few days to do a club date in London. My husband of 16 years I love very much.

“I take spiritual baths, reach positive thoughts, keep hopeful, stay away from negativity. Also, we have places in New York, California, Costa Rica and Great Barrington.” Which possibly helps that positivity.

Correct course?

QUESTION: Why are a maximum of university professors such radicalists? Leftists? Ideologists? Social justice promoters? Instructing our young fertile minds to rail against rulings, gov’t, establishment, history, parents, mores, clothing, manners, social justice? Is that because professors have tenure and no need to bite and scratch to earn a dollar in the tough outside world? Can someone explain this to me?

WHILE cluttering up the UN and traffic, le President de France hit Tudor City Steakhouse. He and his delegation of 12 inhaled New York sirloin, Idaho potatoes and California cabernet sauvignon wine. About time the French prez got some good food — only in New York, kids, only in New York.
