The New York Rangers will be playing hockey in the month of May. The Blueshirts have clinched a playoff spot and are still in the running to win the Metropolitan division. A big part of their success has come thanks to Chris Kreider, who scored his 50th goal of the season at The Garden on Tuesday night. With seven games left in the regular season, what does this final stretch mean for Gerard Gallant’s squad? Who plays? Who rests?

We had lots to discuss on a new episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast with Ron Duguay and Mollie Walker. The Post’s Larry Brooks drops by to discuss everything going on in Rangers land. Stay tuned until the end of the show for some drumming aka “Hart’s Beats” from my fellow producer Andrew Harts.

Up In The Blue Seats Podcast with Ron, Mollie & Jake:

  • PLAYOFF BOUND: Clinching this early shows how good this Rangers team is. Ron was told to rest after Rangers clinched, which meant heading to a Studio 54 party after the game. Players want to keep playing and stay fresh going into playoffs.
  • 50 FOR KREIDER: Gallant is the right coach for Kreider to succeed. It’s quite the accomplishment. Will they play him and give him a chance to get to 54 goals and tie Jaromir Jagr in the Rangers record books?
  • REST OR NO REST: Alexis Lafreniere was a healthy scratch against the Flyers. Will he and others get rest in the final seven games? Who will be next to sit? Adam Fox should be next in line to get some rest.

Larry Brooks Interview:

  • VITALI KRAVTSOV: He will be in training camp and with the club next season, unless they end up trading him.
  • RESTING: Fully expect Lafreniere to be in lineup for playoffs. Reaves knows role as a leader for this team, even if he does not end up getting playing time.
  • CHRIS DRURY: Will he be awarded after the season?
