Toddler fatally shot in Philly a day after 11-month old struck by gunfire

A 2-year-old girl was shot dead inside her Philadelphia home Sunday — less than a day after an 11-month-old boy in the city survived being struck with four bullets, according to a report.

The little girl, who has not been named, was shot in the back of the head in her living room after a gunman outside the house opened fire at around 3:30 p.m., police told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Philadelphia’s acting police commissioner, Christine Coulter, said, according to the paper.

“No child should be murdered in their living room. It’s just terrible.”

The toddler’s 24-year-old mother was shot in the head and back, and was in stable condition Sunday night, the paper reported.

A 33-year-old contractor, who was working on the home, was hit in the stomach and was in critical condition, police said.

In total, the suspect fired seven shots through the front window and the door of the home, cops said.

Police had made no arrests Sunday.

On Saturday, a baby boy was shot in the head and chest when a car he was riding in was riddled with bullets, according to police.

The infant was rushed to a hospital, where he was listed as in critical but stable condition.
