Weird But True

Woman charged with killing pregnant teen, cutting baby from her womb

A woman has been arrested in Brazil after confessing to killing a pregnant teen and cutting the girl’s baby out of her womb, according to local reports.

The confessed sadistic killer told cops she had lured eight-months-pregnant student Gabrielle Barcelos Silva to her house on the pretense of giving her baby clothes.

But the alleged killer suffocated Silva after lacing her drink with drugs and forcibly removed the baby with a crude C-section.

Hospital chiefs alerted police after the unnamed 38-year-old was rushed to a hospital with the child after she dialed 911, claiming she had given birth in the street.

The alleged baby snatcher’s 14-year-old son found Silva, who posted selfies with her baby bump on social media while she was pregnant.

The teen was wrapped in a blanket being used to cover up her body at their rundown house in Uberlandia, the second-largest city in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

On Thursday, it emerged that the suspect hatched her horrific plan to take Silva’s baby after her 34-year-old partner, who has also been arrested, threatened to leave her when she miscarried earlier this year.

She is said to have targeted Silva, who lived in the same neighborhood as she, after realizing Silva was pregnant when she spotted her in the street, G’lobo reports.

Local reports said she confessed to police that she had searched online for information on how to perform a Caesarean section before putting her sick plan into action.

She allegedly cut Silva open with a stiletto knife once she had killed her.

Medics at the Hospital de Clinicas in Uberlandia called police after admitting the child to an emergency neonatal unit and confirming through tests that the fake mom could not have given birth to the baby girl.

The alleged killer told cops her partner knew about her plan and helped her get rid of Silva’s body.

He is protesting his innocence.

On Thursday, the baby was said to be stable and undergoing “special care.”

In her last Facebook post just 24 hours before the sickening crime, Silva, an agricultural engineering student, posted a picture of her heavily pregnant tummy with her shirt lifted up, alongside the message:

“Things happen in life without people planning them and end up becoming the most important things in our lives.”

“A few months ago I received a blessing from God with the news I was pregnant.”

“I was worried at first but then I started getting used to it and today I am the happiest woman in the world because I’m carrying my unborn daughter and there’s not long to go before I’m able to see her face and hold her.”

The horrific crime prompted an outpouring of anger on social media.

Mylena Araujo wrote on Gabrielle’s Facebook: “Very sad. I hope justice is done.”

Lu Lacerda added: “Justice should be done to punish this sickening crime.”

“They should hand the killer and her partner over to the people so they can deal with them.”
