A former Wisconsin teacher was arrested for having a six-month sexual relationship with an underage student — which allegedly included motel stays, sexting and professions of love for one another, according to reports.
Samantha Fitzpatrick, 28, was charged with child enticement and sexual assault of a student Wednesday and faces a maximum of 35 years in prison and a $130,000 fine, local station WBAY reported.
The former Ripon High School teacher started the months-long relationship with a student when he was 16, according to a complaint reviewed by the paper.
In April, cops received a call from another teacher at the school saying she had information about an “inappropriate relationship” between a high school student and an educator.
Another teacher told cops she’d often see the victim in Fitzpatrick’s classroom and that she’d heard rumors from students about the two having sex.
The teen allegedly told friends that he was late to a party because he was “at Fitzpatrick’s and had just had sex with her.”
A student also told cops the victim and Fitzpatrick had “done stuff” in a local hotel room and that he’d given the victim rides to a gas station where the pair reportedly met up.
Police found 67 phone calls to the student on Fitzpatrick’s phone along with Facebook messages that included exchanges of sexually explicit photos, graphic texts and expressions of love.
Both Fitzpatrick and the teen denied having a sexual relationship. He told cops that he joked with friends about having sex with her but nothing had actually happened.
Fitzpatrick had resigned in May, with the district citing “unreliable attendance.”
She is out on $1,000 cash bond and will appear in court again on Jan. 5.
