The Jets are failing off the field now too

New York’s two NFL teams were underperformers this year in a list of valuations released by Forbes magazine on Monday.

Indeed, the Jets had the dubious distinction of being the only team that failed to appreciate in value in 2017.

The Giants, meanwhile, posted a 6 percent gain, compared with an 8 percent average rise for an NFL team.

Forbes designated the Dallas Cowboys the league’s most valuable team for the 11th year in a row.

America’s Team was also the world’s most valuable sports franchise — with a value of $4.8 billion, up 14 percent from a year ago.

The Giants, worth $3.3 billion, ranked third in the NFL. The Jets, at $2.75 billion, came in ninth.

This year’s gain boosted the average team’s worth to $2.5 billion. Meanwhile, TV ratings were down 8 percent last season and got off to a soft start this year.

Offsetting these negatives, Forbes said, were “hefty TV contracts and a favorable labor deal with the players.”
