Citi Bike rider struck by dump truck in Midtown

A woman riding a Citi Bike was seriously injured in Midtown Monday when she was struck by a dump truck, police said.

The 27-year-old cyclist was traveling down Seventh Avenue near West 30th Street alongside the large truck when it struck her while attempting to make a right-hand turn around 11:30 a.m., cops said.

The woman was partially pinned under the vehicle and suffered severe injuries to her legs.

“Her right leg had two holes in it, and you could see the bone coming out,” said witness Lydia Diaz, 54.

“She kept yelling at the driver ‘You hit me! You hit me!’ He kept yelling, ‘Where did you come from? I had the right of way.’ She was not in the bike lane.”

Diaz said the truck driver was so shaken up that he had to be given oxygen.

The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive, officials said.

It’s unclear if anyone will be charged.

“On Monday morning, a rider on a Citi Bike was involved in a serious crash,” a Citi Bike spokesperson said in a statement. “Together with the City of New York, we wish her a full recovery. The safety of our riders continues to be our top priority, and we will keep working with the City of New York on its street safety efforts.”

A Manhattan investment banker and former Israeli army staff sergeant became the Big Apple’s first Citi Bike fatality in June.

Dan Hanegby, 36, of Brooklyn Heights was riding on West 26th Street near Eighth Avenue when he was struck by a bus. The married father of two worked at Credit Suisse Group, sources said.
