Whoever didn’t know June 26 was Deron Williams birthday sure knows now.
The Nets parked a large Happy Birthday sign outside of Williams’ SoHo apartment Tuesday morning, fully decked out with the team’s new Brooklyn logo and black-and-white color scheme, to celebrate their superstar point guard’s 28th birthday.
The sign, which read “Happy Birthday Deron! From your Brooklyn family” is just the latest thing the team has done in order to try and convince Williams, who will officially opt out of the final year of his contract by July 1, to re-sign with the team this summer and become the long-term face of its franchise as it moves across the Hudson River.
Williams’ wife, Amy, posted a picture of it on her Twitter account.
Williams, easily the best player set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is expected to decide between re-signing with Brooklyn or heading to Dallas to play for his hometown Mavericks.
