Braeden knocks Neil

Soap star Eric Braeden has fired back at “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris for calling him a “D-bag.”

Harris used the epithet against Braeden last Friday in a tweet about Braeden refusing to reprise his role on “HIMYM” as Robin’s father — because it “wasn’t substantial enough.”

“His choice of words bothered me,” Braeden told ew.com. “It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris.”

After his initial tweet, Harris backed down a bit. “I feel bad for the D-bag comment,” he wrote later. “Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.”

Braeden, who stars on “The Young and the Restless,” says he’s recovering from hip surgery — but still didn’t back down from saying the “HIMYM” role isn’t substantial enough.

“If he is a worthy adversary, he’d better not cross my path,” Braeden said.
