Nets rookie James out 6-8 weeks with broken foot

Nets forward Damion James had a memorable first start, but not in a good way.

James broke his foot in Thursday’s Nets loss to the Mavericks after replacing Travis Outlaw in the starting lineup. And Monday, the rookie out of Texas underwent surgery for a fractured fifth metatarsal of his right foot. He’ll be on crutches for two weeks, and miss 6-8 weeks.

James said on Sunday that he never had suffered an injury before.

“I never missed a game a day of my life. Ever,” James said. “This is the first time something like this ever happened to me.”
