Whoopi Goldberg clashes with WH gatecrasher after ‘The View’

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg was unrepentant Thursday about her backstage spat with Michaele Salahi, telling viewers how she had “choice words” for the reality TV star.

The two women clashed backstage after Wednesday’s edition of the ABC morning talk show when Salahi complained that Goldberg had hit her during the program.

Goldberg — who touched the socialite’s arm, but did not appear to strike her — decided to tell her viewers all about the spat on Thursday’s edition, insisting she had nothing to apologize for.

“I make no apology for my choice words,” Goldberg said. “She [Salahi] thought I hit her. So I went up to her [after the show] and I told her that she knew I didn’t hit her. And yeah, you know how I said it… choice words.”

Goldberg’s account sparked howls of laughter from her amused audience.

She went on to explain how she meted out similar treatment to the reality TV star’s husband, Tariq, who apparently tried to take pictures of Goldberg with his BlackBerry phone.

“Needless to say, I really went off then,” the “Sister Act” actress went on. “And there is even more choice of words. I mean, they were so choice, you could have cut them with a knife and eaten them.”

Salahi alleged on her Facebook page Wednesday that she had suffered “abuse” on the show, in which she was asked about how she and her husband famously gatecrashed U.S. President Barack Obama’s first state dinner.

“Whoopi came from behind and according to Michaele, shook her arm gently. It was not violent, but it was startling,” a lawyer for the “The Real Housewives of D.C.” star said.

“I think they deserve an apology. It’s outrageous and I’m surprised this would happen,” Lisa Bloom added.

ABC responded with a statement refuting Salahi’s claims.

“At one point during Michaele Salahi’s appearance on ‘The View’ on Wednesday, Whoopi lightly touched Ms. Salahi to get her attention,” ABC said.

“After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi. As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous.”
