NFL: Eagles weigh McNabb deal

The Eagles are entertaining trade offers for all three of their quarterbacks, but head coach Andy Reid signaled yesterday that a deal was unlikely.

Eagles starting QB Donovan McNabb‘s tenure in Philadelphia has been packed with controversy, intense scrutiny and a constant overwhelming feeling of underachievement given the lack of a championship season.

“I’m listening to things out there,” Reid said on the team’s website. “I’m not saying I’m doing anything, I’m just keeping my ears open, which we do on every player.”

* The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says it’s not commenting on an attorney’s statement that a request for a DNA sample from Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been withdrawn. Roethlisberger is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old college student at a nightclub in Milledgeville on March 5.

* Tight end Alge Crumpler signed a free-agent contract with the Patriots.

* Prosecutors will not pursue domestic battery charges against Warren Sapp, who was arrested in Miami Beach a day before the Super Bowl.

MLB: Pedroia says wrist is fine

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia says he’s fine one day after the 2008 AL MVP landed awkwardly on his left wrist. “I rolled my wrist,” Pedroia said. “I’ll take BP tomorrow and then play the next day. That’s it. I’m good.”

* The Athletics acquired right-handed reliever Edwar Ramirez, a former Yankee, from the Rangers in a trade that sends infielder Gregorio Petit to Texas.

HOOPS: Nuggets wait for Karl

The Nuggets might not have coach George Karl on the sideline until the playoffs begin next month. Karl is undergoing treatment for throat and neck cancer.

* Auburn hired Tony Barbee as coach after he led UTEP to the regular-season Conference USA title and the NCAA tournament.
