YouTube vs. Hulu

Cubicle-dwellers rejoice – there’s another reason to slack off at work.

YouTube has added two pages for long-form videos where the popular video-sharing hub will, eventually, offer hundreds of free TV shows and movies.

In what looks like an attempt to give streaming-video site Hulu a run for its money, the launch signifies YouTube’s movement beyond homemade clips and onto longer, professionally produced pieces.

If you’re looking for shows to watch on your lunch break, try the recent murder mystery series “Harper’s Island,” cult favorite “Party of Five” or old school classic “Starsky and Hutch.”

The unemployed (or really unmotivated) can chose from an ok lineup of movie titles – we recommend “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “The Best of the Three Stooges” or “Carrie.” If none of those float your Friday boat, there’s always the apropos indie classic, “Slacker.”
