REPORT: BURRESS WINS GRIEVANCE AGAINST GIANTS

Days after being cut by the Giants, Plaxico Burress won his grievance against the team, who must now pay him $1 million plus an undisclosed amount from a 2008 roster bonus, according to a report on FoxSports.com.

Burress won the grievance after the NFL Players Association and NFL attorneys made their arguments in front of Special Master Stephen Burbank at the University of Pennsylvania’s law school on Wednesday.

The Giants decided to withhold the $1 million bonus after the disgruntled receiver shot himself in the thigh in a Manhattan nightclub on Nov. 29. The disputed money was part of a $4.25 million Burress was supposed to receive when he signed a contract extension with the team in August.

Big Blue cut Burress on Friday, with the team became unconvinced that he changed his trouble-making ways. Burress’ bigger problem at the moment is his court case stemming from the shooting that was recently adjourned until June 15. If he does not have face jail time, Burress will be a free agent.
