SEINFELD RETURNS THE DISS

“The Sneaky Chef” author suing Jerry Seinfeld and his cookbook-writing wife should be more scared of losing in court than she is of the funnyman’s jokes, the couple’s lawyer said yesterday.

Seinfeld lawyer Orin Snyder also blasted writer Missy Chase Lapine for mentioning her 7-year-old daughter in court papers tied to the plagiarism and slander suit she filed over Jessica Seinfeld’s “Deceptively Delicious.”

“We believe that bringing her child into this case is a manipulative and desperate tactic,” he said.

In a Manhattan federal-court filing, Lapine said she felt “scared and vulnerable” when her daughter asked, “Mom, what is an assassin?” after Seinfeld, on David Letterman’s late-night show, said, “Many of the three-named people do become assassins.”

Lapine’s lawyer, Howard Miller, said the “hysterical reaction” to his client’s “simple statement of facts” shows how serious her case is.
