BOONE NOT DOWN OVER HEART SCARE

Josh Boone admitted he was frightened Friday. He said he was a “little” scared.

Figure the Nets center was a lot scared.

Any health issue involving the heart will do that and Boone felt his heart beating rapidly.

But Boone admits after exams Friday and more yesterday – even though the latest tests were “inconclusive” – he is feeling better and a lot more relieved. Boone is scheduled to visit the doctor again tomorrow.

“I can tell you that right after it got over, I was fine and I’ve been fine since then. Something happened when I was on the court. I don’t know exactly what at this point, but we’ll see,” Boone said before the Nets’ 114-106 loss to the Knicks at the Meadowlands last night. “We did an EKG (Friday) and we did an EKG today as well. All of them are normal.”

Boone has no history of heart trouble and though indications are he’s fine, no one is taking any chances. He hopes to be back on the court next week. Maybe sooner.

“Definitely, if they let me go on Wednesday and they say everything’s fine I’d like to play Wednesday night,” Boone said.

That won’t happen.

“The doctor said limit what you do. You don’t want to risk anything just in case. He said it’s probably not going to be – he used the words 99 to 100 percent not life threatening, not a really big issue,’ ” said Boone, who had been bothered by a cold and was taking medication before the incident.

There is some worry because the doctors “don’t know exactly what it is yet,” Boone said.

He has heard “arrhythmia” but said “it wasn’t anything like that. It wasn’t skipping beats. All of a sudden I started to feel my heart beating a little bit hard, a little bit fast. It should be good. It’s not something that should last for too long. Everything I’ve been told, it’s not really a worry.”

After getting within 75-71 of the Knicks, the Nets were outscored 16-2 in a late-third-quarter span. Down 16 to start the fourth, they got within 105-101, but were undone by turnovers (22) and Knicks 3-pointers (12-of-25).

Devin Harris, 0-of-8 in Boston, shot 8-of-15 and scored 21 points. The Knicks, minus David Lee (ankle), got 26 from Nate Robinson. . . . The Nets were encouraged by Brook Lopez (19 points, nine rebounds), who was an offensive post presence.

The Nets were short-handed with Keyon Dooling out (upper respiratory infection) and no Boone, Eduardo Najera (wrist), Jarvis Hayes (hamstring).

Hayes is running and said he might practice today and Najera feels “much better” and is hoping for today, too.

Frank anxious to get him back. “Eduardo (will) be very valuable to us, a frontline guy who is very vocal is something we don’t really have now.”
