‘Idol’ Ride Not Over For Amanda

We have a general idea who will be the Pick Six of “American Idol” ladies tonight.

It was made a little more complicated by Amanda Overmyer, already with the http://www.votefortheworst.com support, winning over the judges last night.

We’ve been counting down the days for her departure but now Amanda will be around for at least another week or so.

1. Brooke White took a big chance with her acoustic “Love is a Battlefield,” and it paid off. We don‘t know if that was the best song to go acoustic, but her vocals were off-the-chart great.

2. What did they do to Carly Smithson’s beautiful hair. The hair was flat but the notes were not, as she rocked the house.

3. Here on the east coast, it sure seemed like Syesha Mercado was getting the bums rush. Did some ads or Paula’s ramblings go long, what was up with that?

Her “Saving All My Love for You” got this spot-on Simon critique: “A bit predictable, but good.”

4. The judges nailed it, telling Ramiele Malubay that her big voice is compromised by hesitancy. Loosen up, girl!

We didn’t appreciate Ryan telling Ramiele to hurry down the stairs because her legs are so short. Hey Ryan: You know she’s the only contestant who makes you look tall, right?

She and Danny Noriega are now apparently best pals… BFF (Broadway Friends Forever)?

5. Asia’h Epperson looked and sounded a lot like Classic Whitney. Of course that brings an impossible-to-win comparison but we thought Asia’h pulled it off.

Did you guys catch Randy’s oh-so-subtle name dropping: “I recorded that song with the great Whitney Houston!” After a while, Randy’s name-dropping takes on its own ridiculous charm, doesn’t it?

6. The judges were wowed by Amanda Overmyer, although M.J. could only sum it up one word: terrible. K. Li hated himself for actually liking the Joan Jett cover, which will likely put the rocker nurse into the Top 12.

Amanda’s best move last night was toning down her makeup and sunburst highlights. She looked 10 years younger.

7. Kristy Lee Cook’s country take on Journey fit the judge’s advice. The pretty blonde Oregonian did a nice job but Simon could barely remember her performance: “Your problem is that you’re forgettable… at best, I can see you coming (in) tenth.” Ouch… but wait, it get worse…

8. Kady Molloy’s (L) pretty face and nice voice didn’t win over our favorite British judge: “I’m still having issues with your massive lack of personality.”

Wow. Double ouch. Is it possible to cringe in discomfort and nod in agreement at the same time?
