TRAFFIC RX FOR HOLIDAZE

City transportation officials announced a plan yesterday to help stop the honking from drowning out the sleigh bells this holiday season.

Additional weekend subway service and an HOV lane on the Manhattan Bridge should help alleviate congestion on the dreaded gridlock-alert days, Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan said yesterday.

The city recommends taking mass transit instead of driving, particularly today, next Wednesday and Nov. 28, then Dec. 7, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. In order to help traffic flow a little better, there will be a ban on all roadwork 6 a.m. to midnight from next Tuesday to Jan. 2, officials said.
