Starr Report

Barker Drew Carey, who replaced Bob Barker on “The Price is Right,” was asked by Entertainment Weekly to comment on Barker, who was named one of the “50 Greatest TV Icons” for a TV Land/EW special airing tomorrow on TV Land (Barker is #34 on the list). “You talk about 35 years at a gig – it’s awe-inspiring” says Carey. “He was a steady, honest performer that you could always count on.

“When Bob’s hair went white, he became this mythic figure, guiding the average person through this maze to success. His only advice [to me] was not to copy him.

“I don’t know if it was ad vice or a threat.”

This list, of course, is sub ective. I mean, they include Calista Flockhart and Kermit the Frog but not Art Carney? Jennifer Aniston but not her “Friends” co-stars? What’s that all about?

By the way, former “CBS Evening News” anchor Walter Cronkite is also on the list (#5); Cronkite, 91, will contribute weekly editorials to Retirement Living TV’s “Daily Café” show (Felicia Taylor, Bobbie Battista).
