MOMA GETS AN ART TRANSPLANT

MoMA mia!

The Museum of Modern Art has acquired several hundred pieces of art for its collection – including works by famed American painter Jasper Johns and sculptor Richard Serra – the museum announced yesterday.

The museum added two paintings to its already extensive collection of Johns’ works: “Beckett” and “Untitled.”

They also acquired “To Lift,” a major, early work from 1967 by Serra – whom MoMA feted this year with a major retrospective.

Other acquisitions include works in a variety of mediums by Belgian video artist Francis Alys, German painter Neo Rauch, photographer Andreas Gursky and Chinese printmaker Lin Tianmiao.
