TWO LEB ROCKETS HIT ISRAEL

Arab militants in Lebanon struck a northern Israeli town with two Katyusha rockets yesterday, but no one was injured.

Hezbollah, which fired nearly 4,000 rockets into Israel during a 34-day war last summer, denied attacking Kiryat Shmona, where one rocket hit a factory and one a car.

“We were outside the factory when suddenly, there was a frightening boom. We saw a black cloud . . . and came over to inspect the damage and saw this,” a witness said, pointing to a hole in the road near the empty car.

Lebanese TV said the rockets came from the town of Taibeh. Lebanese forces found a wooden launch platform – and a rocket that didn’t fire.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is visiting the United States, said the news made for a “very disturbing day.”

But he stopped shy of threatening retaliation, and an aide said the attack was likely carried out by Palestinians, not Hezbollah.
