AT ONE stage, I thought de fense lawyer Mitch Dinner stein was about to throw himself on a funeral pyre after building a statue in the name of Ronell Wilson.
If it had been a made-for-TV movie, it would have been three soaking wet handkerchiefs for the viewer.
Outside federal court, he snapped at me: “That’s not fair. Anyway, anything you say is not fair.”
At one point, Dinnerstein, who looks like he wants to be an editorial writer for The New York Times, said, “And this is to you, Ronell: I’m sorry this day has come.
“You are not created equal . . . You suffered because we didn’t find a different way. We have failed you.”
“We failed you before, and we fail you now. Be strong.”
Dinnerstein emphasized the fact that nobody really knows what happened inside that car when cops Rodney Andrews and James Nemorin were executed.
Suffering cats, well I know. Calmly, that little scumbag splattered two of the finest gentlemen’s brains all over the windows of that car.
Derek Williams, cousin of Detective James Nemorin, said what we all thought during the bone-chilling trial, “Every so often, I think of what the last few minutes of their life was like.”
This despite, over 50 years, so many of them and their retired brothers have been to so many cops funerals.
At last justice! Even though we have to bear the ramblings of the defense lawyer who somehow is stuck in a time warp of the liberal world, we are slowly but surely atomizing.
Dan Murphy, who used to work with James Nemorin in Brooklyn South Narcotics, said, “This is supposed to have been closure but it really isn’t. It reopens all the wounds and will probably still go on for another 10 years if ever he gets executed.”
Detective Mike Palladino said, “Wilson’s already gone back on his word – he said he wouldn’t appeal. But really, what do you expect from this guy?”
This will enrage our great liberal lawyer Mitch Dinnerstein for the defense: If only I could, I would pay my way to Terre Haute, Ind., to the death chamber and volunteer to put the death jab in that excuse for a human – and feel very good about it.
