STARR REPORT

While there’s no word yet on whether FX will renew Courteney Cox’s “Dirt,” the numbers haven’t been very encouraging. The series, which has been (largely) critically well-received, is averaging 2.1 million viewers over nine episodes. While it premiered with over 4 million viewers in January, that number dropped to 1.4 million viewers this past Tuesday night, according to Nielsen.

And last week we wrote about Oprah Winfrey’s visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and how it helped De Generes’ ratings here in New York, where “Oprah” and “Ellen” both air at 4 p.m.

Well, Ellen DeGeneres’ visit to “Oprah” this past Monday, the morning after her Oscars-hosting gig, worked well for both shows.

“Ellen” averaged 267,000 viewers Monday on Ch. 4, up from 156,000 viewers last Fri day – a spike, no doubt, from Ellen’s Oscars gig.

DeGeneres had an even big ger impact on “Oprah” – which averaged 736,000 view ers Monday on Ch. 7, up from 482,000 viewers last Friday.
