PAIR RESCUED AFTER BOAT FLIPS

Two Brooklyn boaters were plucked from the ocean after a freak accident caused their boat to capsize about a half-mile from shore.

Robert Sakowitz and a friend were off Manhattan Beach when he saw a piece of wood floating in the way of his boat.

He made a sharp turn to avoid the plank but it got caught in the propellers and flipped the vessel over in seconds, Sakowitz said.

“I had to swim out from underneath the boat,” he said later. “If someone was in the cabin they would have been dead.”

Vincent Buesing and his daughter, Desiree, were about 100 feet behind them.

“My daughter was in the cabin and I looked down to say something to her and when I looked up I said, ‘Where’d they go?’ ” he recalled.

Buesing called 911 and fished out the pair, who did not have on life jackets.

“I was lucky somebody else was there,” Sakowitz said.
