W. SIDE CRANE CRASH

Tragedy was averted on the Upper West Side yesterday when a 40-foot crane slid off a flatbed truck and crashed onto the street, crushing a parked car and damaging the door of a pharmacy.

The construction crane came loose as it was being transported on its side. It was headed north on Central Park West at 3:30 p.m. when the driver made a left turn onto 63rd Street.

The crane fell onto a parked Toyota Camry and then slid into the door of a pharmacy at 25 Central Park West. Nobody was hurt.
