WARNACO IN CALVIN DEAL

The Warnaco Group, a firm that once sparred with Calvin Klein over the rights to make underwear and denim under the designer’s name, yesterday said it had acquired the companies that made Calvin Klein jeans and sportswear sell in Europe and Asia, for $236 million from Fingen SpA.

Warnaco also said, beginning in 2008 it would take over production of Calvin Klein’s high-end collection designed by Francisco Costa from Fingen, and Italian manufacturer.

Warnaco said yesterday that its agreement to produce the collection would run through 2013; the other licenses carry 40-year terms.
