A Manhattan prankster filled an unsuspecting man’s car with sand as the victim vacationed at a beachfront Montauk motel, police said yesterday.
Eric Gottlieb, 56, was charged with third-degree criminal tampering for shoveling sand into the 1991 Jeep that victim Kevin Renolds, 56, had parked in front of the East Deck Motel, East Hampton Town Police Sgt. Chris Anderson said.
When asked why he’d done it, Gottlieb claimed it was payback for Renolds’ filling his car with sand.
But police said they had “absolutely no evidence” of that.
