COPS BEAT ME UP AT PARTY: FIREFIGHTER

The police are investigating a claim by an off-duty firefighter that he was beaten up by a group of three or four off-duty cops at a Bronx bachelor party in a possible fight over a woman, The Post has learned.

“It’s under investigation,” said Steven Reed, a spokesman for the Bronx district attorney.

“It’s a police investigation and we’re aware of it.”

Authorities would not provide details about the alleged assault, nor whether alcohol may have played a role in it. But NYPD Internal Affairs investigators were interviewing cops who attended the party and other witnesses yesterday.

The dust up is believed to have taken place late Friday or early yesterday on East 154th Street in The Bronx, sources said.

About 15 people, mostly cops with a handful of firefighters, all of who were believed to be off-duty, were celebrating an impending marriage, one source said.

Several women were also present, sources said.

Sources said the flashpoint was a dispute “over a woman” guest at the gala. When tempers became frayed, one of the cops allegedly “slugged” one of the firefighters. Two or three other cops apparently joined in, sources said.

The victim, who has been a firefighter for two years and was a city cop for six years before that, was then “thrown out” of the party, according to one source.

The firefighter then flagged down on-duty cops assigned to the Housing Bureau to report the incident and was then treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and then released.
