KILL BOB! – ‘SOPRANOS’ FANS WANT TO WHACK THE RAT WHO DITCHED CARMELA

‘YOU better watch your step.” Those were a jilted Carmela Soprano’s parting words to her would-be Romeo Sunday night – and if Tony doesn’t whack the creep, fans will.

We’re talking, natch, about Dr. Robert Wegler – a.k.a. the Weasel, the Ass and the Rat – the smooth-talking guidance counselor who bedded Carmela and then viciously ditched her.

Pillow talk turned ugly for the still-sweaty pair when Dr. Bob suddenly snapped, accusing her of seducing

him to help her son AJ’s grades.

“You’re a user, Carmela,” he spat, then called her a word that can be found only on our Pets pages.

The blow left Carmela reeling – and sent Sopranos fans steaming into Internet chat rooms to plot revenge.

“If Tony doesn’t whack him, then AJ and Meadow need to whack that no-good rat,” fumes Video Ray on KevHead.Com.

A poster on televisionwithoutpity.com had this scenario in store: “Wegler opens door. Furio is standing there tossing a grenade up and catching it. Heh.”

Others predicted a more dire fate: Not for nothing, they noted, did Carmela stumble upon Wegler’s copy of “Abelard and Heloise,” in which Abelard gets castrated for cheating.

“All I could think was, yeah, it could happen to you, too, buddy!” writes a viewer on televisionwithoutpity.

Hell hath no fury like the fans of a woman scorned, even when she’s fictitious. For Carmela has won the hearts of many viewers, after years of putting up with Tony’s philandering, only to be frustrated in love when Furio fled to Italy.

“I hate Wegler,” fan Frank Niesuchouski, a Brooklyn anesthetist, told The Post. “For a man of letters to sink to that level of baseness was shocking!”

Others point the finger at Carmela.

After all, as Father Phil Intintola pointed out, she’s still married to Tony – and, like her ex, she’s not above trying to get her way, even if she has to use a ricotta pie to do it.

That’s what she did in Season Two, when she was angling for a recommendation to get Meadow into Georgetown.

“I’m a big fan of Carmela’s, but I can see where he’s coming from also,” says David Cobell, a Manhattan

salesman who grew up in Sopranoland, Paterson, N.J.

“She didn’t ask him specifically to tinker, but she did bring up the fact that the teacher was giving AJ a hard

time, and the next thing you know, she’s jumping all over him.”

That said, even Cobell sees trouble ahead for Wegler. “I think he’s a fool for playing around with her,” he adds. “I think he’s gonna end up dead.”

Or maybe not. As the stalwart fan known as Soprano Sue says, “The way things have been going with the series, people just disappear . . .

“We’re still waitin’ to find out what happened to that Russian in the Pine Barrens!”
