STARR REPORT

A mother’s pain

It’s Annabelle Gurwitch’s job to smile a lot as co-host of TBS’ “Dinner & A Movie” – but it hasn’t been easy since the birth of her son, Ezra, five years ago.

Gurwitch explains in the November issue of Child magazine that Ezra was born with symptoms of VACTERL, a set of birth defects leaving him with no anal opening, holes in his heart, a tightened esophagus and co-joined kidney. “Over the next three years, our son endured more than 15 surgeries,” Gurwitch writes. He also had developmental delays.

Ezra, now 5, “is a vibrant and energetic boy,” Gurwitch writes. “I’m just inspired by my son and moved by my husband [Jeff], who is a more supportive dad than I could have imagined.”

NYPD Blue” star Gordon Clapp and his castmates were among those attending Sunday’s L.A. fundraiser, Aid for AIDS, which assists poverty- stricken AIDS sufferers.

The show featured a drag beauty competition judged by “Scrubs” stars John McGinley and Sarah Chalke and “The O.C.’s” Kelly Rowan and Melinda Clarke.

“NYPD Blue” hairdresser Gabor Heiligenberg won – for his portrayal of Miss Florida, “Sunny Delight.”
