10 KILLED IN BOMB ATTACK AT KASHMIR MARKETPLACE

A powerful bomb ripped through a crowded market in the Pakistan-ruled part of Kashmir yesterday, killing 10 people, including seven children who had gathered to watch a juggler, police and eyewitnesses said.

Another 17 were wounded, some seriously, in the incident at Islamgarh.

There was no claim of responsibility, but police and a senior local official blamed India’s secret police for crossing the disputed border and planting the bomb.

“This is a subversive act and India is behind it,” Mirpur division commissioner Sardar Khurshid said.

It was the second bombing this week on the Pakistani side of Kashmir.

Six people were injured in a bus at Rawalakot town on Tuesday by a bomb that local officials also blamed on Indian agents.

India and Pakistan have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir since their independence from Britain in 1947.
