DA WON’T PROSECUTE PROTESTERS

The slate’s been wiped clean for actress Susan Sarandon and a slew of other celebrities and politicians arrested over 15 days of protests of the cop killing of Amadou Diallo.

The Manhattan DA’s office decided to drop charges against 1,203 protesters rounded up at rallies outside police headquarters, Police Commissioner Howard Safir said.

“It is my opinion that these summonses should have been prosecuted through the system with a judge making the final determination,” Safir said last night.

Among those arrested were former Mayor David Dinkins, Sen. Charles Rangel, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and actors Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee and Sarandon.
