Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ’em) products and single out the most convincing.
Inspired by a stylish laundromat that recently opened in Brooklyn, we set out to find a sturdy and reasonably attractive laundry trolley. This was surprisingly difficult to do (unless you want a canvas laundry bag that says “laundry today or naked tomorrow”), but we landed on a range of bags and carts that will help you reliably get your linens to the laundromat or laundry room. Most even have enough room for your old-school workout-clothes soap and Fran Drescher–approved detergent.

I went grocery shopping with it — I walked to and from a supermarket ten minutes away — and it held a heaping amount of goods: six half-gallon containers of soy milk, a carton of a dozen eggs, about eight cans, lots of veg (potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and more), several packs of frozen meat, and much more! Two: It is made of canvas. It’s a breathable material that isn’t flimsy. Three: It is lightweight and keeps its form. Laundry itself is already heavy, so it’s good that this bag isn’t some sort of heavy and bulky article. Four: It’s the perfect size. I can hold two weeks’ worth of laundry in here and still be able to close it comfortably without clothes spilling out.”
“A proud owner of these cool laundry bags! I look so cool hauling our laundry to the laundromat, I feel like a mountaineer walking in. Can easily carry about 30 pounds of load. The cool thing with these bags is the ball that locks the string in place when closed. I bought three of these and have used them heavily for two months now. No rips, no complaints.”
“This was exactly what my mom needed to cart her laundry to and from the laundromat near her apartment. The wheels are solid so there is no worry about air escaping. It was very easy to assemble — all I had to do was secure the wheels. This cart easily folds up when not in use, so it takes up very little space. The dimensions are just the right size — not too big or small, and it could also house one of those mesh pop-up hampers perfectly. My mom just leaves the hamper in the cart and when it is full, she goes off to the laundromat!”
“Am I ever glad I chose the Royi! It’s got an ingenious design. The metal frame folds up to half its size, and is so lightweight that I can lift it with one finger. I’ve hauled a 40-pound box of cat litter on it, and the frame showed no signs of bending or buckling … there are many others on the market with this same ‘stair-climbing’ feature. But I must say, it’s no gimmick. This design really does make it so much easier to pull the cart up stairs, or ease a heavy load down stairs. The real star of this product, though, is the bag. It’s made of heavy vinyl, making it not only very durable, but waterproof as well.”
“This was a great purchase. I can roll it into my guest bath no problem, and it doesn’t mess up the area rug when I go over it. Also, the basket on the bottom is large enough for my detergent, softener, bleach, garment bags, and my iron. And I get the detergent and softener from a wholesaler, so you know they are the BIG containers. I find the basket is perfect for my machine, too … it is a perfect load, so no leaving dirty clothes behind because the hamper was too big and they won’t all fit.”

“These wash bags exceeded my expectations. The mesh is very fine, which means that if a bra comes unhooked while washing, it will not snag inside the bag. This particular set of bags is generously sized: The small bags will hold a couple of bras, a few pair of panties, or four to six individual knee-high compression stockings, while the large bags will hold a sweater or sweatshirt or a couple of blouses. I’ve used wash bags for many years and was never completely satisfied with any of them until I purchased these.”
